"Women are Strong, Violence is Weakness" Panel Organized
A panel titled “Women are Strong, Violence is Weakness” was held with significant participation at Muş Alparslan University, organized in collaboration with the Psychology Society, Youth Office, Ultraslan Uni Alparslan, MAUN Quality Society, IHA TEK, Archery Society, Young Knowledge Society, Young Red Crescent, Seljuk and Malazgirt Application and Research Center, and Muş Alparslan UniGFB.
The event, attended by many students and university staff, aimed to raise social awareness by having participants carry photos of women and infants who had suffered from violence.
The panel opened with valuable presentations by academics, addressing the dimensions of violence against women and proposing solutions:
Research Assistant Murat Argış: In his presentation on “Teaching Gender Roles in Pre-Adulthood and Violence,” he discussed how the teaching of gender roles before adulthood impacts tendencies toward violence.
Research Assistant Merve Hançer: Speaking on “Women in the Cycle of Violence: Violence Against Women and Its Reflection in Literature,” she examined types of violence against women and analyzed how this violence is portrayed in literature.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Filiz Altıparmak Ercan: In her talk titled “Domestic Violence,” she evaluated the issue of domestic violence against women from various perspectives.
Assoc. Prof. Ayşin Çetinkaya Büyükbodur: Addressing “Femicide and Prevention within the Context of Gender Inequality,” she explored the relationship between femicides and gender inequality and discussed solutions.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Işık: In his presentation, “Violence Against Women from Different Perspectives and Solutions,” he thoroughly examined various aspects of violence against women and proposed multiple solutions to prevent this violence.
After the panel, a march was organized to honor the victims of violence and increase social awareness. Participants carried photos to highlight the devastating effects of violence against women and shared messages of solidarity, calling on all segments of society to take responsibility in combating violence against women.
