We collaborated to heal the wounds, we went to Malatya.
After the earthquake that took place on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 04.17 a.m. and affected ten of our cities, we, as a university, joined hands to heal the wounds of the earthquake victims.
After the earthquake that caused one of the biggest disasters in our history, the coordination group including our rector and other universities’ rectors was established under the chairmanship of the President of HEC Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. All aid works are carried out under the coordination of the group, which is in instant communication, in contact with the source province crisis center and the target province crisis centre.
In line with the decisions taken by the center, the aids collected with the contributions of our university staff, non-governmental organizations and the people of Muş were taken to Malatya on the second day of the earthquake.
Our university aid team delivered 2500 breads, a busload of blankets, diapers, winter clothes, shoes and heaters to the earthquake victims. Aid packages were received by the committee including the rector of Malatya İnönü University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kızılay. The team brought the disaster survivors who wanted to come to Muş on their return.
In addition to the places declared by the Muş Governorship, the victims of disasters who come to our city are hosted in the indoor sports hall and Sultan Alparslan Mosque in our campus, which is designated as a reserve assembly area.
Those who were caught in the earthquake on the way from Van and Bitlis to other provinces were also placed in the guesthouse at our University.
