Visit from the Central Provinces Service Cooperation Kindergarten to the Faculty of Education within the Framework of School-University Collaboration
During the fall semester, a visit was organized by the management and teachers of the Central Provinces Service Cooperation Kindergarten to our university within the scope of school-university collaboration for English language teaching practices in the preschool period.
As part of the collaboration between the English Language Education Department of the Faculty of Education and the Central Provinces Service Cooperation Kindergarten, 4th-year students of the English Language Education Department carried out practical applications for 8 weeks under the mentorship of department faculty members. The aim was to develop positive attitudes towards English and improve the learning processes of preschool students. In this context, training was provided to 209 students who had never received English instruction before, following a previously determined curriculum supported by game-based, visual-auditory materials. The aim was to help teacher candidates gain experience and development from both theoretical and practical perspectives. This practice, planned with the motto "Education equalizes individuals who are not born equal," and with the principle that "every child can learn English and develop a positive attitude towards English," has undertaken a societal mission in terms of foreign language access.
As part of the project, processes were planned and implemented with the participation of stakeholders, and evaluations were made regarding the effectiveness and sustainability of the process.
In this context, the Director of the Kindergarten, Seda Aksoy, Deputy Director Yusuf Arslan, school teachers Fatma Yalçın and Mehmet Demiraydın visited Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım to express their gratitude for the implemented practices. During the visit, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education Assistant Professor Veysel Emir Eke, Head of the English Language Education Department Assistant Professor Sabahattin Yeşilçınar, and Assistant Professor Samed Yasin Öztürk also participated, discussing possible collaborations.
Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım conveyed the greetings of our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican to the teachers and expressed his satisfaction with the visit. He emphasized that they support such socially impactful initiatives both institutionally and at the faculty level, and they value stakeholder participation processes that will increase their impact in the future.
