The 950th Anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory Will Be Commemorated with Scientific Activities
This year, in which we commemorate the 950th anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory, many scientific activities will be carried out both to commemorate the victory and to understand the war.
Muş Alparslan University, named the commander of the victory, Sultan Alparslan, will lead an important organization in this sense. An international symposium organized by Muş Alparslan University will be held in the lands that witnessed the Malazgirt Victory on 23-24 August 2021; supported by the Ministry of Culture, Muş Governorship, Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, and the Turkish Historical Society. More than thirty local and foreign academics will participate this international symposium with the title of "The Victory of Malazgirt in its 950th Anniversary" which will be held for the first time in Malazgirt, where the war took place. Participants will present their papers in eight sessions that will last two days. The theme of the symposium will be the Victory of Malazgirt and the historical identity of the city of Malazgirt. In addition, the results of the "Malazgirt Battlefield Detection Historical and Archaeological Field Research Project", which has been ongoing for two years under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and in partnership with Muş Alparslan University, will also be shared with the public. Thus, the Battle of Malazgirt will be discussed in terms of both its historical dimensions and war archeology.
