Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Attended the Meeting on "Increasing International Visibility in Higher Education" in Ankara

On November 9, 2023, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, attended the meeting on "Increasing International Visibility in Higher Education" in Ankara. The meeting, held at Hacettepe University Tunçalp Özgen Congress and Culture Center under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Higher Education Council, was also attended by our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Türkmenoğlu.

The discussions focused on strategies to enhance the visibility of Turkish higher education in rankings such as THE, QS, ARWU. Rectors and vice rectors from prominent universities like ODTÜ, İTÜ, and Sabancı University shared their experiences in improving international visibility. The meeting covered how university ranking systems function and provided examples of best practices in research management, institutional data management, annual performance evaluations, and open science activities, illustrating their impact on global rankings step by step. Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Higher Education Council, emphasized the importance of universities sharing information to encourage visibility in global rankings, highlighting the significance of publishing high-quality research for universities to be more visible.
