Our Rector Investigated the Earthquake Zone
After the earthquake that caused one of the biggest disasters in our history and affected 10 cities at once, the aid activities initiated at our university under the chairmanship of MAUN Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat continue with the participation of volunteer staff and students.
Rector Polat conducts investigations in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep and Adana in order to see the aid works carried out by the staff of our university or supported by the university, and to support the people living in the region and the staff and students who go to help the region.
Rector Polat, who also came together and held meetings with the rectors of the universities in the provinces, made investigations in the disaster areas and received information from the authorities. Rector Polat stated that these examinations will guide the academic studies to be carried out at the university in the future regarding the aid to be made as a university and the reality of the earthquake and added: “We have experienced a great destruction as a country. We will heal the wounds of this destruction together. As a university, we mobilized to do our best for the region. In line with the examinations we will make here today, we will make decisions about the next stages and content of our aid work. I would like to thank all the official authorities, especially the relevant institutions of our state, our academic-administrative staff, our students and esteemed members of our voluntary organizations for the work they have carried out here.”
Rector Polat visited the family of our student Ayşe Gül Şengül, who lost her life in the earthquake in Adıyaman Besni, and offered his condolences.
