Our Rector Attended the Regional University Rectors’ Meeting

“Regional University Rectors’ Meeting” was held at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. The rectors of Van Yüzüncü Yıl, Hakkari, Bitlis Eren, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen, Iğdır, Siirt, Bingöl and Kafkas Universities attended the meeting chaired by the president of CoHE Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar.

Making a statement to the press before the meeting, Prof. Dr. Özvar stated that they made regular visits to universities and said that "the most important reason for these visits is to closely follow the present situation of our universities. We met with the administrators of our universities, very valuable members of the senate and the board of directors, and had a conversation with our students. We are in consultation with them on the future of higher education in Turkey."

Feasible Collaborations Negotiated

In his statement, Prof. Dr. Özvar expressed that, "hopefully, we will not only come together with Van YYU's stakeholders and administration, but also exchange ideas on regional, economic and development issues with the rectors of our universities in our neighboring provinces." Emphasizing that the most important mission of universities is to support the economic and industrial development of the cities they are in, with their knowledge, human capital and teaching staff, Özvar stated that they will come together with the rectors as well as the commercial and industrial establishments of the region to negotiate feasible cooperation. Then, Prof. Dr. Özvar chaired the Regional University Rectors' Meeting.
