Opening Ceremony of the New Academic Year Has Been Held

The opening ceremony of the new academic year for higher education institutions in Turkey has been held at the Turkish Presidential Compound. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Şentop, and President of Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar attended the ceremony along with other state officials, ministers, YÖK Members, heads of relevant institutions, ambassadors, university rectors and students. Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, and Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Karadağ and Prof. Dr. Ulaş Çaydaş, were also present at the ceremony.

The ceremony started with a music concert by the Symphony Orchestra of Turkish Music State Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University, which is led by Prof. Dr. Ali Tüfekçi.  At the end of the ceremony in which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of YÖK, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar gave speeches, "YÖK Outstanding Achievement Awards of 2021" that are given to individuals and institutions every year by YÖK have been presented to the awardees.
