New Books by MAUN Academics
Academicians at Muş Alparslan University continue their scientific contributions to the city with their newly published books. The book "Muş Tarihi" (History of Muş) written by Director of Social Sciences Vocational School Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özalper, Assist. Prof. Murat Alanoğlu from History Department and twenty-two academicians was presented to Rector Polat by the editors. The book also edited by Prof. Mustafa Alican who was one of MAUN academics before is among the most comprehensive works on the history of Muş ever written.
The work, which introduces the province Muş starting from the prehistoric processes, deals with the political, social, economic, administrative and architectural aspects of the city. In addition, the book covers a detailed historical analysis of the political structures of Muş, the changing political and social structure of the region after the Battle of Malazgirt, the transformation of Muş into an Islamic city in the Ottoman period, the management of the Alaaddin Pasha family who left their mark in Muş, the effects of administrative and social reforms of the Tanzimat period on Muş, state-society relations in Muş during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II, the tribes settled in Muş in the 19th century, the appearance of Muş during the Constitutional Period, the political, social and economic developments between the single party, the Democratic Party and the two coups in the Republican period, and the social, educational, economic and architectural changes that Muş went through from the 2000s to the 2020s. On the other hand, in the section titled "The Establishment and Development of Muş Alparslan University" written by Prof. Fethi Ahmet Polat, the Rector of Muş Alparslan University the role of the establishment and development of the university in the educational, social and economic transformation of the city is mentioned.
The books “Varto” and “Bulanık/Kop” written under the editorship of Assoc. Prof. İrşad Sami Yuca from History Department stand out as other important works produced by our university academics on behalf of Muş. The books present original studies by including local testimonies and first-hand narratives.
Additionally, the book titled “Muş İli Swot Analizi” (Swot Analysis of Muş Province) written by Assist. Prof. Ömer Arslan at Mechanical Engineering Department has taken its place on the shelves as an important study that deals with the economic structure, socio-cultural situation of Muş and the impact of these relations on investments in the province.
Rector Polat conveyed his thanks to everyone who contributed to these works by emphasizing that these books, compiled or copyrighted by young academics, have begun to be published at a rate not seen in other provinces, and contribute to local promotion, development and advancement. Prof. Polat also stated that nearly 25 works on Muş were produced by Muş Alparslan University academics, and these studies are one of the most important indicators of university-city integration.
