MAUN Students Receive Commercial UAV Pilot Training
Students from MAUN Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Technology and Operation Program, and the UAV and Technology Student Community (IHA-TEK), participated in the IHA-1 Commercial Pilot Training program organized in collaboration with Ostim Technical University and Skyview Aviation Co. Ltd. The training, held from November 7 to 12, provided students with both theoretical knowledge and practical flight experience.
After successfully completing the theoretical training provided by Skyview Aviation Co. Ltd., practical flight sessions took place in the area in front of MAUN Central Library. With a total of 40 participants, the flight training offered a comprehensive experience in UAV technology, covering the IHA-1 Commercial Pilot Training as well as UAV Mapping and UAV Spraying.
Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and his spouse, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Songül Alican, along with Advisor to Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper and Director of the Technical Sciences Vocational School Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Şevgin joined the practical flight sessions to share in the students' excitement and closely examine the training.
Expressing his desire to see students from the UAV Technology and Operation Program as pioneers in the aviation sector, Prof. Dr. Alican stated, "UAV technology is one of the significant areas of the future. It is an honor for us to see that you, with the awareness that success begins with choice, are seizing opportunities like this to succeed in the path you have chosen by studying in this field. Hosting MAUN’s IHA-1 Commercial Pilot Training Program and the training sessions held from November 7 to 12, MAUN students have gained practical flight experience alongside theoretical knowledge. Through these opportunities, we will continue to train our students as leaders in the aviation sector, and we want to emphasize our ongoing support for them. I extend my thanks to the Director of the Technical Sciences Vocational School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Şevgin, Skyview Aviation flight instructor Kürşat Acar and his team, and IHA-TEK Student Community President Ufuk Aksoy for their coordination and contributions during the training. I wish continued success to all participants."
At the end of the training program, it was mentioned that participants would receive the Civil Aviation General Directorate-approved IHA-1 Commercial Pilot License, IHA-1 Commercial Pilot Training Certificate, and Radio Communication Certificate. The practical flights concluded after answering questions from instructors, a group photo session, and the presentation of certificates.
