MAUN Students Pedaling for Health

MAUN Health, Culture and Sports Department and the Cycling Society acting within our university held an event. In the event organized in our university, riding training was given to our students who were beginners.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, attended the program with his wife, Mrs. Nilüfer Polat, Health, Culture and Sports Department Head Şükrü Çobanoğlu, MAUN Cycling Club advisor Asst. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Öztürk, community student representative Fırat Şay, academic staff, Muş Bicycle Association members, students and members of press were also at the event. Speaking to the national press, Rector Polat said the following about the importance of the organization: “Today we are hosting a very significant event. I wish this activity, in which our students from MAUN Cycling Club take an active role, will set an example for all our students. It is very nice for our students to use technological opportunities for self-education, to use their mobile phones, which have been changed into computers, to follow their lectures and scientific developments, or to make their social media accounts a part of their lives as a means of effective communication. However, the passion for technology, which has become an addiction that will disrupt the natural flow of life, does more harm than good to them. For this reason, our motto is: Leave your tablet, computer, mobile phone behind and live a healthy life!”

After the technical information and riding training given by the community leaders in our university, the participants made a 5 km riding under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, accompanied by security and an ambulance. At the end of the tour on the ring road of our complex, the students expressed their satisfaction with the event and especially thanked the university administration for providing bicycles. The program ended with a souvenir photo shoot after serving refreshments.
