MAUN Cross Country Team Becomes the Champion of Turkey
MAUN Women's Team has become champion in the “Inter-University Cross Country Championships” organized by Iğdır University in cooperation with the University Sports Federation and the Turkish Athletics Federation.
MAUN participated in the championship held at the Martyr Bülent Yurtseven Campus of Iğdır University with 10 athletes. MAUN became the Turkey Champion in the Women's Team category. In this category, while Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University came in second in the competitions, Siirt University finished third. In the women's individual category, our University's Faculty of Sport Sciences students Derya Kunur came in third in Turkey, Emine Akbingol came in sixth in Turkey and Berfin Barışer came in seventh in Turkey.
In the Mixed Team Category, our students (Mihriban Önder, Evin Köse, Orhan Tuğa, İbrahim Karateker) from the Faculty of Sports Sciences represented our university. Adıyaman University came first, while MAUN came in second and Van Yüzüncü Yıl University came in third.
Our Athletes Will Represent Turkey in Portugal
Derya Kunur and İbrahim Karateker were entitled to represent our country and our university at the "Inter-University Cross Country Championship" to be held in Aveiro, Portugal on March 12, as a result of the degrees they achieved in the races.
Reporting that two athletes from the men's team could not participate in the races due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Assist. Prof. Dr. M. Zahit Kahraman (the Cross Team Coach) stated that our university would also achieve success in the men's category in the coming years. Kahraman thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, who values sports and athletes, for his support, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences Prof. Dr. Alper Karadağ, the staff of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Atakan Aksu.
