In the Footsteps of Victory Malazgirt Documentary Premiere in Muş

The Muş Premiere program of the "Malazgirt Documentary in the Footsteps of Victory", which was prepared within the scope of the "Malazgirt Battlefield Identification, Historical and Archaeological Survey Project", which was carried out in order to determine the exact area where the Battle of Malazgirt took place and our rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican took part in the management.

The opening speeches of the program, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, were made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik, the academic advisor of the Determination of the Malazgirt Battlefield, Historical and Archaeological Survey Project, and Coşkun Aral, one of the directors who prepared the Malazgirt Documentary in the Footsteps of Victory.

Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik, the academic advisor of the project, started his speech by greeting Rector Alican, members of the protocol and other participants and stated that the project had the support of many people and institutions. Çevik continued his speech as follows: "Our project started in 2020 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage Museums, Ahlat Museum Presidency and the participation of nearly 40 field experts from twelve universities. As our project enters its fourth year, we are trying to put this great victory into flesh and bones, to identify it on site and to reveal it with concrete evidence. Just like Çanakkale, just like Çanakkale Martyrdom, we intend to make our struggle to keep these lands as a homeland, this great victory, the initiator of the process of Anatolia becoming Turkey, visible on site. Mr. President's visit to Malazgirt for the last six years has been very effective in initiating this process.

Emphasizing that they wanted to bring the "Malazgirt Documentary in the Footsteps of Victory" to the 950th anniversary of the victory, Çevik said that they had no hesitation about Coşkun Aral's directing. Drawing attention to the hard work of Aral and his team during the documentary shootings, Çevik thanked Rector Alican for his contributions to both the project and Muş.

Rector Alican, who took the floor to make the last greeting speech, started his speech by greeting the protocol and the participants and conveying his thanks. Stating that in 2013, he wrote a book titled "The First Day of the Apocalypse Malazgirt" and that this was the first monograph written about the Malazgirt Victory, Alican stated that he came to Muş in 2014 with a project of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and that they told 1071 young people about the victory.

Rector Alican continued his words as follows: "After leaving Muş in 2014, I thought I would never come to Muş again, but in 2018, I found myself in Muş again and started working here. In 2019, Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik called me and informed me that our Malazgirt Project would start. Four years have passed since the project, which we entered with various concerns at the beginning, and books, documentaries, articles and publications have emerged from our project. In our research field, a pile of materials ranging from coins and gold to war tools have emerged. In the last two years, we have given our project international visibility. Thus, we have proved our competence in the international arena by centering on Muş. I believe that we will be in much better places as time passes." Rector Alican expressed his discomfort with the negative image of Muş and stated that they want to highlight Muş with tourism, culture, archeology, art and scientific studies. Rector Alican thanked the documentary directors and the participants again and left the platform.

After the speech of our Rector, the screening of the "Malazgirt Documentary on the Trail of Victory" was held. The program ended with the presentation of a plaque to Prof. Dr. Adnan Çevik and director Coşkun Aral.
