Fruit Trees Planted in MAUN Campus
With our motto "A campus in touch with nature" for a greener university, forestation activities continue in MAUN campus. We planted 500 fruit tree saplings donated by Sohta Sinan Foundation of Education and Service in our university campus that has one of the most extensive protected green areas in Muş.
Contributing to the future of our country with its education and afforestation activities, and named after Sohta Sinan, one of the commanders of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, the foundation donated fruit tree saplings to our university as part of its afforestation efforts all over Turkey.
Increasing Number of Fruit Trees
The number of fruit trees in our university is increasing with different fruit tree saplings such as apple, pear, cherry, cherry, apricot, peach and plum. Moreover, pracices to increase and improve the existing flora in the campus are also in progress.
Nihat Seyhan, the representative of the foundation, and his team, attended the event organized with the support of Sohta Sinan Foundation of Education and Service, along with MAUN Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Karadağ, Prof. Dr. Murad Aydin Sanda and Prof. Dr. Ulaş Çaydaş, Secretary General Harun Demir, as well as deans and administrative unit chiefs. Fruit tree saplings were planted in different parts of our university campus. Rector Polat expressed his thanks to Sohta Sinan Foundation of Education and Service for their contributions.
He said, "I would like to thank Mr. Zeki Balcıoğlu, the founder of Sohta Sinan Foundation, and Mr. Nihat Seyhan who always supported us regarding the saplings. One of the important activties of the foundation is afforestation. Mr. Seyhan is the authorized person on this and he carries out these activities only in universities established in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. In order to keep the green texture of our country alive, Muş Alparslan University will continue to do its part sincerely."
