From Past to Present: Traditional Archery in the World

An international panel on From Past to Present: Traditional Archery in the World was held, aiming to introduce the traditional archery sport to the world, of which our university is a stakeholder.

Academic studies on the subject were brought up in the panel held jointly with Manas University, Bowie State University and World Ethnosport Confederation. A total of 43 researchers, 7 from Turkey and 36 from abroad, attended the panel where our Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat participated as a guest speaker. The panel was held live over zoom in 2 sessions. In the panel, besides the history of archery, experts in the fields such as cinema, culture, and arrow and bow production technology exchanged information. While providing information on historical and ethnographic concepts on traditional archery, the importance of introducing traditional archery sports to the world was also emphasized.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Türkmen, faculty member of Sports Sciences, who is the chairman of the International Turkic Peoples Traditional Sports Games Organizing Committee, and Dr. Esra Çıplak, Director of Our Traditional Sports and Games Application and Research Center at our university, attended the panel as panelists.
