Creating a Nonviolent Future with Men" Seminar Organized at Our University
A seminar was organized at our university with the aim of raising awareness among men about violence against women, as part of the efforts to prevent violence against women by the Muş Provincial Governorship.
The seminar, which took place at the Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, was attended by Prof. Dr. Murad Aydın Şanda, the Rector's Advisor, General Secretary Harun Demir, and male academic and administrative staff.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Cennet Ceren Çavuş, the Director of our University's Center for Social Policy Application and Research. Çavuş provided information on the definition of violence, types of violence, causes of violence, different forms of discrimination underlying violence, and the sexism that is responsible for violence against women in her speech titled "Creating a Nonviolent Future with Men." She emphasized that equality does not mean sameness, but rather the desire for equality in terms of rights, freedoms, and opportunities, while acknowledging that everyone is different. Çavuş highlighted the importance of leaving ego behind and focusing on ecological balance to be truly human, and she stated that to prevent any form of violence that harms social peace, one must distance themselves from arrogance.
