Calligraphy Exhibition at Our University
As part of the elective course "Traditional Turkish Arts" in the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, students from our Faculty of Education, specializing in Classroom Teaching and Social Studies Teaching, received theoretical training on traditional Turkish handicrafts, particularly calligraphy, illumination, marbling, and miniature arts.
After theoretical classes, our students, under the guidance of Calligrapher and Assistant Professor Dr. Şükrü Bilici, individually demonstrated their success in creating calligraphy works. A total of 17 pieces were exhibited in the exhibition held at the Faculty of Education's Hacı Bektaşi Veli offices.
The exhibited works, derived from the calligraphy styles "Sülüs" and "Talik," received widespread attention. Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, Faculty of Education Deputy Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Arıcı, Dr. Teaching Assistant Veysel Emir Eke, Faculty Secretary Ali Çobanlı, and Faculty of Education Lecturers visited the exhibition. They discussed the works in detail with the students, and our Rector expressed his appreciation for the works created by the students. Emphasizing the importance of art in education, he encouraged the students to continue their interest in this field.
Our Rector expressed that besides academic achievements, artistic activities also have positive effects on human psychology. He encouraged the students to strengthen their relationship with art and develop their talents in this field.
