Bone Samples from Malazgirt Project Excavations Transferred to Our University
As part of the Malazgirt Battlefield Identification: Historical and Archaeological Survey Project, conducted in collaboration with our university, bone samples recovered during the 2024 excavations in Malazgirt Afşin Neighborhood and the Arab Cemetery (Historic Muslim Cemetery) have been transferred to the Anthropology Laboratory at our university for advanced analysis.
Anthropological materials, previously preserved at Ahlat Museum, have been relocated under the supervision of Dr. Ali Akbaba, a faculty member at our university. The upcoming analyses aim to uncover significant demographic, biological, and genetic insights into the Battle of Malazgirt.
