Being Sensitive to Palestine is a Necessity, Not an Option
The advisor of rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, met with religious officials serving in Muş Directorate of Religious Affairs at a conference discussing Türkiye’s Palestine policy.
In his speech, Özalper discussed the historical dominance of states in Palestine, focusing on the situation of Jerusalem during the era of Islamic states. Not indifferent to the recent inhumane events, he also touched upon Türkiye’s Jerusalem policy. Emphasizing the duty undertaken by our country, always standing by the oppressed with the slogan "You are the Expected One," Dr. Mehmet Özalper highlighted the importance of everyone fulfilling their responsibilities with sensitivity. He specifically addressed the responsibility of religious officials, stating that, to raise public awareness on the Palestine issue, they must utilize cultural codes of justice, mercy, love, and compassion, reaching various segments of society with ease.
Özalper stressed the need to convey this sensitivity to the younger generation, addressing misconceptions, concluding his speech by stating, "Mosques are places that unite us, keep us together, and fill our hearts with unity and brotherhood."
