"An Anatomy of a Coup: Reflections on February 28" Panel Held
A panel titled "An Anatomy of a Coup: Reflections on February 28" was held regarding the military coup process known as the "postmodern coup" in Turkish political history, which was claimed to "last a thousand years."
The panel, which took place in the Islamic Sciences Conference Hall and was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya Kaya Hasdemir, featured speakers such as Author Mine İzgi, Lawyer Arzu Akalın Dizdar, and Author Gülten Balcı. Among the attendees were Muş Mayor Feyat Aysa, Deputy Mayors Hamdullah Karasu and Aydın Özarslan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, Secretary General Harun Demir, students, and the people of Muş.
Opening the panel with a speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım expressed his wish for "the days of February 28, which left a black mark on history as the aspirations of coup-hungry generals and members of the West Working Group, and the days when democracy was adjusted, not to be experienced again for the sake of future generations."
The panel, which was closely followed with great interest, discussed the effects of the February 28 postmodern coup on Turkey, its economic damages, the deep wounds it left in society, and the influence of print and visual media during this period, as well as its legal dimension. At the end of the panel, after the speakers answered the audience's questions, they were presented with certificates of appreciation.
