"5 December World Volunteer Day" Programme
In the event organised by AFAD Muş Provincial Directorate, a programme was held for those who took active roles in the February 6 earthquakes.
In the programme held at AFAD Coordination Centre, "thank you" certificates were presented to volunteers and public personnel who took part in the earthquake that occurred on 6 February, centred in Kahramanmaraş. In addition to Governor Avni Çakır, Muş Garrison Commander Colonel Ali Osman Sağlam, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Mehmet Kasım Ermiş, Provincial Police Chief Serkan Karaman, Muş Chief Public Prosecutor Hüseyin Kantar, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Rector Advisor Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, AFAD search and rescue team, volunteers and heads of institutions attended the programme.
In his speech, Governor Avni Çakır emphasised that he served in İslahiye for 45 days after the earthquakes of 6 February and said, "At a time when your country needs you, I felt the pride and inner peace of spending time among the people who need you the most, and being a balm to the wounds of those people."
After the speeches, Governor Çakır gave certificates of appreciation to volunteers and public employees.
