TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Science Awards Ceremony was Held
Our Rector Prof. Mustafa Alican and Rector Advisor Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özalper attended the TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Science Awards ceremony held at the Presidential Complex.
Speaking during the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that they increased the number of universities to 208 and drew attention to the scientific and technological advances made by Turkey. Stating that they have provided a total of 4 billion liras of support to 47 thousand projects since 2007 to spread the science culture in society, President Erdoğan stated that they support TÜBA, whose work they follow closely and with admiration towards the development of science and cultural heritage, and said, “With these critical steps we have taken in different fields "Thank God, we have brought Turkey to a very different point in scientific research compared to 21 years ago."
Announcing that this year, three students selected in the competitions held within the scope of TEKNOFEST were included in the Antarctic Science Expedition, President Erdoğan continued: "We have further strengthened our national research institution, TÜBİTAK, which has been the guide of science and technology for 60 years, by supporting it in every field. We supported a total of 31 thousand projects within the scope of TÜBİTAK Academic R&D Support Programs. We used over 68 billion liras of resources for these. “With the Scientist Support program, we provided support to 270 thousand scientists for a total of 17.8 billion liras.”
Our President also showed sensitivity to the grievances experienced by scientists protesting the Palestine issue around the world and stated that Turkey’s doors are wide open to these scientists.
