Zionism and Al-Quds!

At the conference titled 'Zionism and Al-Quds,' Prof. Dr. Şinasi Gündüz, a faculty member of Istanbul University's Faculty of Theology, spoke with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican. The event, held at our university's Faculty of Islamic Sciences Conference Hall, was attended by our Rector's Advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences Prof. Dr. Murat Serdar, our academicians, and students.

Coordinated by Dr. Yavuz Arslan, the 'Zionism and Al-Quds' conference began with a Quran recitation. Gündüz, addressing the historical process of Zionism and its contemporary Zionist occupation, highlighted that Zionism is rooted in the idea of Jews from different regions around the world living in a specific area and establishing a nation-state there. Gündüz stated, "The concept of Zionism was used in the late 19th century, but as a thought, its history goes back much further." Discussing how the idea of supporting Jews emerged, Gündüz mentioned, "In the New Testament, referred to by Christians as the New Covenant, there is a divine plan mentioned for the second coming of Jesus Christ." Furthermore, Gündüz expressed his dismay at the feeble response of Muslim countries, condemning Israel's atrocities only with weak voices.

At the end of the conference, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, presented the book 'Malazgirt Günlükleri Kutlu Mirasın Peşinde' to Prof. Dr. Şinasi Gündüz as a gift.
