We Continue Pioneering Studies as a Pilot State University in Agriculture and Livestock
Muş Alparslan University continues to work as a pilot state university in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. Our university, which aims to increase production efficiency with modern agricultural technologies and contribute to regional development, carries out important projects in this context.
Sabahattin Şengül, our student of the Department of Animal Production and Technologies, who was also featured in the national press, was a guest on Agriculture TV screens and stated that they provided disinfection in plant seeds using Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) technology, which positively affected the germination rate and emergence time. He also stated that thanks to this technology, they increase the resistance of plants against cold stress.
Emphasising that they aim to grow two crops a year in cold climate regions such as Muş with this method, Şengül said, ‘First, we will plant wheat that has been made resistant to cold stress. After the harvest, we will grow silage corn to be used as animal feed in the same production area. This is a revolutionary development for our region.’
Drawing attention to the opportunities offered by PEF technology, Şengül said, ‘After the application of electricity, the resistance of plants to cold increases. In this way, we ensure a more efficient production despite the harsh weather conditions.’
These innovative studies carried out under the leadership of our university are expected to make significant contributions to the income of farmers and regional development by increasing agricultural production, especially in cold climate regions.
