Results of ‘Science on Stage-2’ Project Published in ‘International Journal of Science Education’

In the article, ‘Science on Stage-2’ project supported by TUBITAK 4004 program, which includes theater and drama applications; the effect of the following issues was examined which have influence on secondary school students; their ability to learn about scientists; to learn their lives and inventions in the history of science; their attitudes towards science course and their views on scientists.
According to the results of the research; it has been observed that theater and drama practices enable secondary school students to learn about scientists, their lives, and studies while having fun. However, when looking at other quantitative results it was determined that the applications made did not have any effect on the attitudes of the students to the science course and their views about the scientists. According to the results obtained from the qualitative data, students integrate the arts of theater and drama into the history of science, and this has positive results in their academic and personal development.
With the applied program, it was observed that students realized simple scientific facts through art; their sense of curiosity, their desire to research, question and learn increased; they develop socially and academically; in addition, it was observed that their attitudes, interests, curiosity and motivation towards science and art increased.
