Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican has taken over the office

In a ceremony held at the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, received his certificate of appointment from YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and assumed office.

After receiving his certificate of appointment from President Özvar, Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, was welcomed by the MAUN staff at Muş Sultan Alparslan Airport. Alongside the Rector's Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper, Secretary General Harun Demir, and Executive Assistant Ömer Tuna, numerous academic and administrative personnel attended the reception at the airport.

At the front of the Rectorate building, Rector Alican was greeted by the deputy rectors, academic and administrative staff. Delivering a thank-you speech there, Rector Alican said, "You have embarrassed me, I did not expect such a welcoming reception, and it has deeply touched me." He mentioned that when he applied for this position, he prayed, "If it is destined for us to contribute even a single stone to the wall of our homeland, let this duty be bestowed upon us. If not, let this duty not be bestowed upon us."

Rector Alican stated that he had worked at MAUN for 3.5 years and now he would continue from where he left off. He expressed that his field of work was Malazgirt, and he aimed to make the university a symbol of Malazgirt by working intensively in this area. He mentioned that they had made presentations about the Malazgirt Project in Spain, England, and Russia and obtained significant data from the excavations conducted in the area.

Rector Alican emphasized that he had started his duty with great excitement and energy, and he expected support from all personnel. He stated that he did not want there to be too much distance between him and the staff and stressed the importance of direct contact. In his speech, he said, "I have come here to build hearts, and I hope we will do it together. And when we leave, we will carry it as a medal around our necks."

Rector Alican concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude, saying, "First and foremost, I would like to thank our esteemed President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for considering us worthy of this duty. Then, I extend my thanks to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the members of the YÖK Executive Board for this warm reception."
