Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican Has Assumed Office With the Handover Ceremony

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, who was appointed as the rector of our university through the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette yesterday, assumed office today with the handover ceremony held by Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat.

Our new Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, was warmly welcomed with flowers by Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat, General Secretary Harun Demir, deputy rectors, academic and administrative staff, as well as members of the press, in front of the Rectorate building. Following the welcoming ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican assumed the rectorship from Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat through the handover ceremony held in the Rector's office. Prof. Dr. Polat wished Rector Alican success in his new position.

In his speech at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Polat began by saying, "May God bless and grant success. May He never put us to shame." He continued, "Many of our colleagues applied for the rectorship, and all of them, including the candidates, were very valuable to me. Mustafa, whom I have previously worked with, is a highly esteemed professor. We have collaborated on numerous projects, particularly related to Malazgirt.

During my first appointment, our esteemed President instructed, 'Fethi, we expect you to take care of Malazgirt.' I did my best to fulfill that responsibility. Now, I am delighted to see someone who will take even better care of Malazgirt becoming the Rector of Muş Alparslan University." Prof. Dr. Polat mentioned that he will be at Istanbul University from now on and expressed that his doors will be open to anyone coming from Muş.

Rector Alican, in his speech, began by stating, "With the approval of our esteemed President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I have been appointed as the Rector of Muş Alparslan University. First and foremost, I pray to the Almighty that He does not let us down, and then I express my gratitude to our esteemed President and the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, for entrusting us with this duty."

Rector Alican mentioned that he had worked alongside Prof. Dr. Polat for three years and stated that after meeting him, he structured his entire career plans towards coming to Muş. He emphasized that they have conducted significant work related to Malazgirt, including the Malazgirt Battle Site Identification Project, and highlighted that they have achieved important data within the scope of the project this year.
