Good News for Our University

The establishment of the School of Foreign Languages at our university has been announced in the Official Gazette dated 20.04.2023, following the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

After the university's request for the establishment of the School of Foreign Languages was accepted by the Council of Higher Education (HEC), the School was founded with the signature of the President and Prof. Dr. Zeynep Yılmaz Kurt was appointed as the Director. With this appointment, the number of female executives in the upper administrative cadre of our university has increased to four.

As the 7th academic unit established at our university since the appointment of our Rector Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat in 2015, the School of Foreign Languages will provide undergraduate education in programs where the language of instruction is fully or partially a foreign language, and where students do not have sufficient language proficiency. The school will not only provide effective and high-level foreign language education, but also organize international foreign language exams such as TOEFL and IELTS. It will also carry out activities such as meeting the demand for public foreign language courses, organizing international exchange programs, and coordinating the MEB-YLSY Scholarship Program.

Commenting on the issue, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat said, "for the last few years, we have been striving to establish this school and taking steps to found its infrastructure. After the Faculty of Dentistry, Allah has also granted us the establishment of the School of Foreign Languages. We have also appointed a distinguished scholar as a professor here. We will have our 4th female executive working at our university."

To be honest, many people have contributed to the foundation of the school. I offer my greatest thanks and gratitude to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is the owner of the idea of having a university in every province and who provided us with these opportunities. I would like to express my gratitude to HEC President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and HEC General Assembly Members who have supported us throughout the process on behalf of our city and university. I thank the Governor of Muş Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Gündüzöz, Muş Deputy Mehmet Emin Şimşek, and Mayor of Muş Feyat Asya, who stand by our side in every step we take to produce services in our city. I would like to express my respect and love to our academic and administrative staff who contributed to the establishment of our school and our esteemed people of Muş.
